About the role
We're seeking a strategic communications professional to join our team and drive external storytelling for the engineering and infrastructure work behind serving Claude. This role will be the primary external comms partner to the teams responsible for how Claude performs in production, including capacity, reliability, and engineering.
In this role, you'll craft compelling narratives that make Claude's inference and reliability work accessible and credible to developers, customers, and the press — across launches, milestones, and the steady drumbeat of updates in between. You'll build messaging frameworks for technical topics without losing the substance, and lead the communications response when an engineering issue needs a coordinated, cross-functional response. You'll also coach engineering and product leaders to be effective spokespeople.
The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong proactive and reactive muscle, has a genuine curiosity about how systems perform and the judgment to navigate nuanced, technical topics. You should be able to move fast, think critically, and collaborate across a wide range of technical and non‑technical teams. You'll sit on the Product Communications team, working day to day with engineering and product leaders.
Responsibilities- Own external comms for Claude's inference and reliability story across launches, milestones, and the steady drumbeat of updates

- Develop messaging frameworks for technical topics that need to land with developers, customers, and press without losing the substance
- Lead comms when a technical or engineering issue needs a coordinated cross‑functional response
- Partner closely with the product organization on decisions that impact users and our brand, bringing those considerations into the room early and often
- Coach engineering and product leaders to be effective spokespeople for press, podcasts, panels, and the smaller moments in between
- Have strong instincts for how messaging will land across audiences and channels and the judgment to adjust strategy accordingly
- Have 8–12 years of experience in communications focused on infrastructure, engineering, or technical products
- Are highly online and fluent in where technical conversations happen, from developer forums to X to Hacker News
- Are genuinely curious about how customers actually experience performance, capacity, and reliability
- Have experience in communications focused on infrastructure, engineering, or technical products
- Write with discipline and accuracy around complex technical concepts and sensitive topics
- Have a deep understanding of both traditional media channels and the emerging platforms where technical communities engage
