Job Overview

Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer – York, PA (onsite). This role supports Ryder’s Continuous Improvement culture across the operation, applying CI methods, engineering and automation to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The position reports to the Lead Engineer/CI Manager, is located in York, PA, and requires ~20% travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and drive CI initiatives, including data‑driven analyses, process mapping, and statistical evaluation.
  • Identify process gaps, recommend, and implement improvements using lean tools such as VSM and Kaizen.
  • Manage CI and steady‑state engineering projects that deliver measurable business results.
  • Facilitate and lead Value Stream Maps and Kaizen events, enabling rapid improvement cycles.
  • Develop, document, and validate continuous improvement plans aligned with customer goals.
  • Support automation projects and build system/ process changes, including use of CAD, slotting, and WMS tools.
  • Provide data‑driven reporting and dashboards (Power BI/Tableau) to track improvement metrics.
  • Coach employees on CI, quality assurance, and Lean principles across all functions.
  • Maintain QMS, corrective action system, and regulatory compliance for quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or Master’s with 3‑year relevant experience).
  • Five (5) years of experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing CI/engineering; or three (3) years if holding an MBA with an undergraduate engineering degree.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, CAD, slotting tools, MOST, and warehouse management systems (e.g., Manhattan Scale, SCALE).
  • Experience using SQL, Power BI or Tableau, and Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Strong knowledge of Lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, 5S, PDCA) and ability to lead cross‑functional CI projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel (20%) as required.
