Cost Engineer
Support and coordinate the efforts of the cost estimating team and gather and correlate their inputs in the preparation of new business proposals. Analyze and assemble historical cost data for follow on business proposals. The Cost Engineer takes this information and translates it into proposal cost data which he or she then analyzes from a reasonability standpoint for use in arriving at pricing decisions.
The incumbent must have the ability to work to a successful conclusion of the estimating effort within very critical time constraints and then communicate results of these efforts clearly and objectively to the members of the pricing committee.
The Cost Engineer collects processes and disseminates cost data between 10 or more pricing team members responsible for the various departments involved in new program development. Reports to the Supervisor/Manager Cost and Pricing, Proposal Manager and Senior Management responsible for final pricing decisions.
Processes over 50 major proposals annually.
Independently prices over 1,000 spare and component parts / assemblies annually.
*** Space and Defense Group operates in a very complex segment of the industry which is highly competitive, requiring extremely competent and accurate cost proposals. The industry is controlled by rigid government regulations which include Cost Accounting Standards, US Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), TINA, UK Defense Conditions (DEFCON) and various European Regulations. Having a thorough knowledge of these regulations and fostering a collaborative and compliant environment within the various Cost Estimating Groups requires diligent attention to purpose.

*** global organization, customer representatives and various government agencies to assure achievement of Group objectives in profitability and compliance.
Must continue to maintain and promote strong customer relationships while dealing in the sometimes adversarial environment of contract price negotiations.
Required Skills:
A BS degree in a financial and / or engineering discipline. MBA is a Plus
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in an engineering, operations or financial discipline.
• MS Excel experience preferred.
