Senior Operations Engineer – JLL
The Senior Operations Engineer is a critical member of the facilities management team at the Philips Latham, NY site, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all building systems, with a primary focus on HVAC operations and maintenance. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will execute comprehensive maintenance operations, troubleshoot complex facility equipment, and support operational excellence for all stakeholders.
This role offers the opportunity to leverage your technical expertise while mentoring junior staff and driving continuous improvement in a dynamic commercial environment. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, productive, and compliant work environment while contributing to JLL's commitment to operational excellence.
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment to ensure peak performance and compliance with applicable standards
Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, and control systems to keep facility and building systems operational and compliant
Lead and execute preventative maintenance programs across multiple building systems, with a strong emphasis on HVAC
Record system readings, make necessary adjustments, and conduct periodic equipment inspections to ensure proper operation and compliance
Manage facility services coordination, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance oversight, and technical reporting/documentation requirements
Proactively coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely and high-quality execution of maintenance work
Support continuous improvement by reviewing service request summaries, identifying recurrent operational problems, and evaluating vendor performance
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a commercial or industrial environment
Recognized technical credentials in HVAC (e.g., EPA Section 608 Certification, trade license, or equivalent)
Demonstrated multi-craft technical skills with advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Commitment to safety compliance and best practices, including lockout/tagout procedures and regulatory requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills
