Senior Hydrogeologist – Responsibilities
- Lead complex hydrogeologic investigations in the Northeast and Mid‑Atlantic region, including fractured rock and coastal plain settings.
- Oversee data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation, including building dynamic conceptual site models, developing high‑resolution site characterization strategies, and applying modern remediation hydrogeology concepts such as mass flux/discharge or DNAPL assessment.
- Manage field groundwater level and quality data collection, design and construction of monitoring wells, development of geologic and hydrogeologic cross‑sections, and geospatial and geostatistical analysis.
- Interpret subsurface aquifer conditions on a site and regional scale; develop hydro graphs and other graphic presentations of hydrogeologic data.
- Lead the assessment of groundwater contaminant plume dynamics and recommend management or remediation strategies.
- Act as a technical expert with recognized authority in a specialized area, resolving complex problems.
- Project manage by directing junior staff, providing technical review and oversight, and mentoring.
- Prepare reports and proposals, including scopes of work, project budgeting, and tracking.
- Interact with clients and deliver presentations.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Geology, Geosciences, Hydrogeology, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience conducting hydrogeologic assessments and updating conceptual site models at active, inactive, and abandoned mine sites or similar projects.
- Experience implementing passive and/or active water treatment systems, evaluating flow control structures, and directional drilling into mine workings and fault zone structures.
- Completion of 40‑hour HAZWOPER, 30‑hour OSHA Construction, and MSHA 40‑hour Underground Miner training.
- Local candidates preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or a closely related field.
- 10 or more years of analysis, modeling and design, and management experience.
- Project management skills a plus.
- Commitment to active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
