Your new roleAs our new Managing Consultant in Air and Climate, you will be part of Ramboll’s Environment & Health Division. This group includes professionals passionate about air quality and environmental compliance, supporting clients in addressing complex regulatory and technical challenges. The team provides services across a range of areas, including air permitting, emissions estimation, regulatory compliance, control technology assessments, air dispersion modeling, and preparation of air quality and compliance reports.
Yourkey tasks and responsibilities
- Serving as the technical lead, overseeing consultant-level staff on complex air quality projects
- Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, with a focus on air compliance
- Maintaining client relationships and managing deliverables to meet client needs efficiently and to the highest quality
- Preparing air quality permit applications and environmental reports across a range of complexity levels and for a range of industry types
- Estimating emissions and conducting engineering evaluations of air pollution sources

About you- B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related physical science with strong quantitative coursework. PE certification a plus
- 9+ years of air quality consulting experience, including air permitting, compliance, and/or air dispersion modeling
- Demonstrated project management experience, including proposal development, managing scope, schedule, budgets, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience with client relationship management, and business development efforts
- Strong understanding of air pollution control technologies and air dispersion modeling tools (e.g., AERMOD)
- Experience interpreting and applying federal and state air regulations, including Clean Air Act programs (e.g., NSR/PSD, Title V, NSPS and NESHAP); multi-state experience desirable
- Demonstrated experience preparing air permit applications, including NSR/PSD and Title V, encompassing emissions calculations, regulatory applicability analysis, application preparation, and agency coordination through permit issuance
- Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients, regulators, and stakeholders, including presentations and regulatory interactions
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with programming (e.g., Python, R), databases
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff in technical and consulting skills
- Opportunities to lead complex, high-impact air quality projects across the U.S., including permitting, modeling, and regulatory strategy for industrial and energy clients
- Exposure to complex, multi-state regulatory environments across diverse industries, providing broad technical and regulatory experience
- Exposure to innovative tools and approaches, including generative AI, to enhance air quality modeling, permitting workflows, and data analysis
- Direct exposure to clients and regulators, with meaningful responsibility in technical decision-making and project delivery

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,500 - $150,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
