CMTA, formerly known as AMA Group, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Plumbing and Fire Protection, with 4+ years of experience in plumbing design and fire protection design. This position entails providing workable solutions, designing plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings from the design phase through the construction administration phase as needed. The Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer will represent AMA in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members.
Key Responsibilities- Design plumbing and fire protection systems, including domestic water systems, sanitary drainage and vent systems, storm drainage systems, pumping systems, natural gas distribution systems, and special fire suppression systems, including clean agent (gaseous) systems
- Perform plumbing and fire suppression system selections, prepare preliminary designs, and create performance specifications
- Consult on areas such as the preparation of existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
- Attending meetings with owners, clients, and architects
- Reviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings to determine conformance with contract documents and applicable Codes
- Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and calculations to perform equipment research, piping layout, and pipe sizing
- Incorporate design changes using AutoCAD and Revit
- Perform design calculations; design plumbing systems to the requirements of individual state and local municipality codes
- Produce documentation consistent with client requirements and standards specific to each project
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred - 4+ years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design
- Knowledge of building codes and standards, drafting standards, plumbing engineering standards, and other trades
- Knowledge of the various applications of plumbing systems
- Strong understanding of the construction process and interpretation of construction drawings
- AutoCAD and REVIT proficiency
