The Sr Transformation Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing machining processes across multiple facilities supporting aerospace and defense programs. This role ensures consistent production standards, process efficiency, quality compliance, and continuous improvement across all assigned sites.
Key Responsibilities Process Development & Optimization- Develop and improve CNC machining processes (milling, turning, grinding)
- Create and maintain work instructions, routers, and process documentation
- Drive cycle time reduction, cost savings, and yield improvement initiatives
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and process validation
- Provide engineering support across multiple manufacturing locations
- Standardize processes, tooling, and best practices across sites
- Travel between facilities as needed to support production and projects
- Collaborate with site leadership to resolve technical and operational issues
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as AS9100, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Support audits, including customer and regulatory audits
- Maintain documentation for traceability and configuration control
- Lead or support Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma initiatives
- Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions
- Partner with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA)
- Interface with customers and suppliers as needed
- Capex justification, selection, & Install
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related)
- 3–7+ years of experience in machining/manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and tooling
- Experience with GD&T and blueprint reading
- Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing
- Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems
- Lean / Six Sigma certification
- Experience supporting multi-site operations
- Process improvement and problem-solving
- Data analysis and decision-making
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across locations
- Combination of office and shop floor environments
- Frequent interaction with production teams
- Travel required between manufacturing sites (estimated X–X%)
