An established engineering consultancy working within the mission-critical infrastructure sector is looking to expand its specialist building systems team. This role sits within a high-performing group responsible for delivering advanced control and monitoring solutions across complex, large-scale technical facilities.
The position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated data centre environments where system reliability, energy efficiency, and operational resilience are critical. Flexible working arrangements are available, including hybrid and remote options depending on experience.
Role OverviewThis position focuses on the integration, design, and optimisation of building management and electrical power monitoring systems within critical environments. You will work across both mechanical building controls and electrical infrastructure monitoring, ensuring seamless operation of complex facility systems.
Key Responsibilities- Design, configure, and support building automation and monitoring systems across mission-critical facilities
- Work with integrated control platforms covering HVAC systems, environmental controls, and electrical distribution monitoring
- Support implementation of power monitoring systems covering critical electrical infrastructure such as UPS, generators, and distribution networks
- Integrate mechanical and electrical systems into centralised building control environments
- Program, test, and commission control systems and monitoring platforms
- Troubleshoot system issues and support optimisation of building performance
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and design teams throughout project delivery
- Produce technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational reports
- Support commissioning activities and on-site validation of system performance
- Ensure systems align with industry best practices for reliability, efficiency, and resilience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Controls Engineering, or similar discipline
- Experience in building automation systems (BMS) and/or electrical monitoring systems (EPMS)
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and/or HVAC building services
- Familiarity with control systems, automation platforms, and integration protocols
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and system schematics
- Experience working in data centres, hospitals, pharmaceutical, or other critical environments (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams - Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in mission-critical data centre environments
- Exposure to high-availability electrical systems and redundancy design
- Background in controls engineering or systems integration
- Experience with commissioning or on-site system optimisation
