Job Description:
Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems for testing and production. Performs analysis and testing on complex designs to meet varying requirements and conditions. Success in this position requires an assertive, confident attitude and a commitment to working as a part of a team to meet critical delivery schedules.
Hardware Engineer Required Tasks- Provide support to Engineering activities
- Looking for a Hardware Engineer with experience working on Electronic Warfare or Electronic Attack subsystems and systems
- Familiarity with the Naval customer, Naval design constraints, and integrating with a Naval ship
- Experience installing systems on a Naval ship, working at various Naval yards, and interacting with the Navy
- Support the existing Engineering team in building, integrating, testing, and evaluating production representative systems in the LM Syracuse lab
- Work with other functions (SE, FW, SW, Lab Support, etc.) to integrate the components into the larger system
- Complete designs, design reviews, and document reviews in support of new configuration changes and development
- Investigate and close out problem reports, change notices, and configuration updates in accordance with BLQ-10 Hardware Development Plan and Configuration Management Plan
- Aid and create status updates for internal and external stakeholders with the program cadence
- Support travel to review integration, installation, and testing of system on a Naval ship or at environmental testing facilities. This could include ship checks and installation of the system for various demo activities
- Review and investigate items related to obsolescence, Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP), and supply chain issues that impact current and future BLQ-10 production, spares, and logistics
- Designs and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products
- Conducts stress, structural/dynamic, and thermal design testing and analysis relating to packaging of electronic/COTS equipment in multiple military platforms
- Supports the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) (shock and vibration, temperature, humidity, and altitude testing)
- Supports the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of Engineering Development Model (EDM) build, qualification, and production
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling
- Experience performing engineering testing in a laboratory environment
- Strong communication skills and able to explain design issues and solutions
- Experience with Creo (Pro Engineer)
- Experience 3D Finite Element Analysis
- Experience with 3D Printing
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline and three or more years of related professional experience
- Proactive/self-starter. Task driven with ability to work independently
- Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships with team members which fosters team success
- Must be U.S. citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance. Must have clearance to begin work
