The Principal Scientist II is responsible for developing novel ePTFE‑based membrane platforms for various applications across semiconductor, aerospace, and energy transition industries, targeting liquid and gas separation and fine purification.
Location:
Cortland, NY (Port Washington, NY also considered). This is an on‑site role.
- Drive New Product Development by delivering novel ePTFE‑based membrane platforms for liquid and gas purification.
- Develop membrane technology from concept to pilot demonstration and manufacturing scale‑up, meeting the Voice of Customers.
- Apply expertise in membrane science, polymer engineering, and processing‑structure‑property relationships (thermal‑mechanical properties, rheology, compounding, extrusion, calendering, lamination, biaxial orientation, functionalization technologies such as chemical coating, plasma, Ebeam, Gamma, UV irradiation).
- Collaborate via Open Innovation with internal and external partners to develop technology platforms.
- Cross‑functional collaboration with hardware design, cleaning, marketing, and sales for technological development.
- Ph.D. in Material Science, Polymer Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience; preferred in semiconductor and/or aerospace sectors.
- Familiarity with the semiconductor industry (e.g., wet etch, dry etch).
- Experience with semiconductor OEM tools that use filters for liquid purification.
- Strong background in material synthesis, polymer processing, and analytical tools.
- Track record of publications, patents, and invention disclosures.
Physical Requirements
- Travel up to 15% domestically for internal R&D visits and high‑priority customer interactions.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Annual salary range: $135,000 – $160,000.
Eligible for bonus/incentive pay. Benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
