Rail​/Transit Project Manager

We are looking for an Engineering Project Manager to oversee end-to-end project lifecycle across rail, transit, aviation, and bus infrastructure projects. The role will manage budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications to deliver quality work on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.

• Develop project scope and fee quotation, and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
• Serve as primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and client satisfaction.
• Assist with client project scoping and contract negotiations.
• Perform technical discipline tasks such as analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
• Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using the Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
• Lead development and execution of the project management plan.
• Supervise and mentor team to achieve overall project objectives.
• Coordinate with managers on project staffing, recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning.
• Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist in business development and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects.
• Work with the project team and marketing resources to prepare proposal and presentation materials.
• Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects, as well as general presentations within industry and community.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of task management or Deputy Project Manager experience.

• Proven success delivering 4‑for‑4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on rail/transit projects.
• Ability to identify and escalate risk and change management issues.
• Leadership of a project or task order with subconsultants.
• Proficiency in system tools for managing, monitoring, and delivering projects.
• Ability to leverage the Office Management Team to implement sophisticated processes.
• Contribute to sales by leading pursuits for rail clients.
• Interface with client-level peers.
• Provide technical guidance to team and task leads, and perform portions of technical work.

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Experience managing projects for New York Metro Area clients (MTA, NYSDOT, PANYNJ, NJT, Amtrak).
• 10 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
