Harris is seeking mechanical controls engineers in Rochester NY to work on a dynamic team to develop EO/IR solutions. They will have Controls Engineering responsibilities consisting of the design, development, modification, evaluation and analysis of complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical components, subassemblies and systems. Candidate will work closely with cross functional members in engineering, manufacturing, & program management to design, develop & build high performance systems.
Essential Functions:
Control-system design, analysis and verification methods
State estimation data fusion methods for inertial navigation
Influence architecture and design configuration through comparative trades
Subsystem requirement allocation
Modeling and simulation methods
Performance characterization and fault diagnosis
Understand and implement systems engineering processes
Create and update essential engineering documents including specifications, reports, plans, technical memos, and presentations
Design, develop, modify and evaluate complicated and difficult mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems.
Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Matlab/Simulink.
Experience with advanced shock and vibration analysis.
System development considering machine design and theory of mechanisms, thermal design considerations, and materials selection for demanding environments and applications.
Experience in designs of electric motors, gears, bearings, and flexures
Electronics packaging knowledge
Hardware integration and troubleshooting
Engineering of aerospace products
Strong mechanical and geo-spatial comprehension skills
Understanding of defense products for the environments and platforms L3
Harris supports
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $88,500 - $164,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3
