The Geotechnical Engineer PE role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in the New York City metropolitan area. This role involves planning and executing geotechnical site investigations, including field explorations, subsurface data collection, and coordination with drilling and testing contractors. The engineer will analyze soil and rock data, perform geotechnical and engineering geology assessments, and prepare technical reports and recommendations for foundations, excavations, retaining structures, and geo‑structural systems.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include developing foundation and ground improvement designs, supporting demolition and excavation projects, reviewing construction documents, and providing technical guidance to project teams. The role also includes collaborating closely with structural engineers and architects, participating in client meetings, conducting site visits, and providing construction‑phase support, including inspections and responses to field conditions.

• Strong geotechnical engineering skills, including Geotechnical Engineering and Foundation Design, with experience applying them to urban construction projects.
• Proficiency in field and desktop site investigation, including Site Investigation, subsurface exploration planning, and interpretation of Soil and rock testing data.
• Knowledge of Engineering Geology principles and their application to slope stability, groundwater, and excavation support in complex urban environments.
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York, or the ability to obtain NY PE within a reasonable timeframe.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus); a master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
• Experience with geotechnical analysis and design software and familiarity with relevant NYC and NYS building codes and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare clear technical reports, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate effectively with clients and contractors.
• Willingness to perform regular on‑site work, including field observations, construction support, and occasional off‑hours or weekend site visits as project needs require.
