The Product Development Technical Project Specialist is responsible for driving the engineering, innovation, and technical development of new jewelry designs as well as engineer changes and dual sourcing. The position supports the product development lifecycle by transforming design concepts into functional, manufacturable prototypes while ensuring technical feasibility, quality, and production readiness.
This specialized area will focus on the development of hard prototypes, model creation, and engineering validation before production. Experience in CAD prototyping and modeling methods a must.
Key Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Project Management:
- Manage new product development projects from concept through production readiness.
- Identify and evaluate product development opportunities that improve innovation, manufacturability, quality, and cost
- Support retail filter callouts by investigating product issues, providing technical troubleshooting, and recommending corrective actions
- Develop, maintain, and update product specification sheets to ensure accurate engineering and manufacturing requirements
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical packs, including engineering drawings, material specifications, assembly instructions, and production documentation
- Develop and refine hard prototypes and internal master models for product validation and engineering review
- Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for existing models when design or manufacturing improvements are required
- Provide technical oversight, project coordination, and progress tracking for internal Product Development projects to ensure milestones and deliverables are achieved
- Support dual-sourcing initiatives by partnering with internal manufacturing teams to qualify for manufacturing
- Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Quality, Sourcing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure products meet quality, cost, timeline, and manufacturability objectives
Job Qualifications
- 5 years’ prior fine jewelry manufacturing/development experience
- Knowledge of Rhino
- Graduate Gemologist preferred
- Excellent Project Management skills that entail preparing and working through the detailed steps associated with developing products with cross functional team members to achieve both short and long term objectives
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with a strong drive for organization and departmental efficiency.
