ESH teams are comprised of three distinct disciplines that support our ESH Management System and processes at project sites and offices. These teams include environmental scientists, safety specialists, and industrial hygiene scientists. Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.
Job SummaryThe Lead ESH Representative on Night Shift leads the execution of the project Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) program during the hours outside of the normal day shift hours. This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing environmental, safety and health aspects of a project.
The position reports to the Field Safety Manager or designee and coordinates with the Night Shift Construction Manager.
Work requires physical ability for field inspections, including walking on construction sites in extreme heat or humidity, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights or on uneven surfaces, and entering confined spaces. Must be able to wear assigned PPE (e.g., harness, life vest, gloves, etc.)
Major Responsibilities• Execute assignments during the night shift involving safety and health issues and risks, require judgment and experience in the application of scientific techniques and plans to reduce the potential for adverse impacts.
• Supervise assigned EHS personnel and facilitate their development through assignments, coaching, and mentoring.
• Interpret requirements and provide technical assistance within ESH team and to other project groups regarding risk and hazard assessment, plan preparation, and ESH program execution.
• Research issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports.
• Performs safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
• Implements the project Safety and Health Management Plan, associated plans and procedures, and oversight during night operations.
