The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a motivated Entry‑Level Fire Protection Engineer to join our Building and Fire Protection Engineering team in West Milton, NY.
What You’ll Do- Contribute to design reviews for new fire protection systems and system modifications, ensuring code compliance and seamless integration.
- Support field engineering activities during construction, system acceptance, commissioning, and building occupancy.
- Assist with the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance Programs by providing engineering support to system operators.
- Identify and resolve fire code deficiencies and help develop technical work packages for corrective maintenance.
You’ll collaborate with project teams, system engineers, building owners, and code officials, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of projects and disciplines. This position offers hands‑on learning, mentorship, and the opportunity to be involved in engineering work that truly matters.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And SkillBachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field.
Preferred Skills- Bachelors degree or higher in Fire Protection Engineering
- Coursework or internship experience related to fire protection engineering, fire safety, or building systems
- Familiarity of the ICC Codes/Building Code set for New York State
- Familiarity with NFPA 13, 25 and 72
- Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills through group projects, internships, or campus activities

$63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually. Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug‑free workplace. All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707. Marijuana is a Federal Schedule I controlled substance and illegal under Federal Law.
