As a Commissioning Engineer with a strong background in energy efficiency and building systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning process of energy-efficient systems and technologies in both new constructions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the commissioning process from kickoff through closeout, keeping projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward
  • Coordinate closely with ownership, design teams, contractors, and vendors to align scope, resolve issues, and maintain progress
  • Conduct site inspections to verify system installations align with design intent, specifications, and energy efficiency goals
  • Review submittals and shop drawings to confirm systems are being installed in accordance with project requirements
  • Oversee and witness equipment startup, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance testing across all systems
  • Perform system testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to verify proper operation and identify issues early
  • Execute point-to-point verification and sequence of operations testing for HVAC, electrical, lighting controls, and BAS systems

  • Ensure all commissioning activities align with applicable codes and standards, including NYC Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC), LEED, and ASHRAE guidelines
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Prepare and contribute to preliminary and final commissioning reports, including all testing documentation and system verification
  • Coordinate building turnover by supporting O&M documentation, as-builts, and training for facility teams
  • Participate in seasonal testing and warranty phase reviews, helping identify and resolve post-occupancy issues
  • Utilize commissioning platforms such as Bluerithm to manage workflows, testing, and reporting
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in building systems commissioning, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainable building practices.
  • Strong knowledge of energy-efficient technologies, building systems (HVAC, lighting, controls), and renewable energy systems.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes for energy-efficient systems, including building automation, HVAC, and lighting systems.
  • In-depth understanding of energy codes, standards, and certifications (e.g., NYC Energy Conservation Code, LEED, ASHRAE, Title 24).
  • Experience with energy modeling and system analysis software (e.g., Trane Trace, Energy Plus, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines, ensuring completion within scope, budget, and schedule.
Preferred Skills
  • Certification as a Commissioning Professional (CxA) or LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
  • Knowledge of New York City’s energy codes and regulatory environment.
