Job DescriptionThe Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Fire Protection/Sprinkler System Engineer to join our Building and Fire Protection Engineering team in West Milton, NY.
As a Fire Protection/Sprinkler System Engineer, you will:
- Provide detailed review of fire suppression system modifications and new designs for code compliance and system compatibility.
- Provide field engineering support in construction to support system acceptance, commissioning, and building occupancy.
- Provide engineering support to the operators of the Inspection, Testing and Maintenance Programs to include water‑based and special hazard suppression.
- Resolve fire code deficiencies and upgrade suppression systems and equipment to be more effective.
This position requires interacting with multiple organizations, project execution teams, systems engineers, building owners, and code officials to ensure code‑compliant design and construction.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And SkillBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills- Experience with NFPA 13 and 25
- Experience with the development of construction documents (drawings, specifications, cost estimates)
- Experience with design and maintenance of fire protection systems
- Familiarity with the ICC Codes/Building Code set for New York State

$77,900.00 - $ annually
