ABOUT CAHANI ENERGY CORP

Cahani Energy Corp is a New York City–based energy efficiency consulting firm specializing in energy audits, energy management, and regulatory compliance services. We support multifamily, commercial, and industrial properties with solutions ranging from ASHRAE Level I, II, and III Energy Audits to ongoing Energy Management and building performance optimization. Our team has deep experience navigating New York City’s energy and building regulations, including Local Laws 84/133, 33/95, 88, 87, and 97.

To date, we have completed 400+ compliance projects, conducted 150+ ASHRAE energy audits, and secured more than $2.5 million in utility incentives on behalf of our clients.

We act as a trusted technical partner to building owners, property managers, contractors, and engineering professionals providing reliable, consistent, and versatile support across our full range of services.

In addition to direct consulting services, Cahani Energy provides technical and support services to engineering firms and contractors, helping them scale capacity, streamline internal systems, and meet growing client demand without compromising quality or compliance.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an Energy Engineer I to support energy audit, Local Law compliance, and QAQC projects across our client base — building real technical depth while working under the guidance of senior staff. This role goes beyond basic data collection: you will execute assigned project work end-to-end under supervision, serve as a client-facing point of contact on your accounts, and produce the technical analysis that feeds our compliance and decarbonization recommendations.

This is the right role for someone who wants hands‑on exposure to ASHRAE auditing, NYC Local Law compliance, and LL97 decarbonization strategy, with structured mentorship along the way. As you build experience in the role, the path forward is Energy Engineer II, with greater project ownership, direct client leadership, and more technical decision making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute and assist management of assigned Local Law compliance projects (LL87, LL97, LL88, LL84) end-to-end — scoping, scheduling, execution, and delivery — across multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Track project timelines and deliverable status; proactively flag risks, delays, or scope changes to your supervisor and or Principal before they become client-facing problems.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and partner-firm inputs (e.g., field data, audit findings) to keep multi-party projects on schedule.
Client Interface
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for a portfolio of client accounts — fielding day‑to‑day questions, coordinating site visit logistics, and providing status updates directly to clients and supervisors.
  • Present audit findings and analysis results to clients and property teams, with P.E. oversight on compliance and decarbonization strategy recommendations.
Technical Analysis & Deliverables
  • Execute ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits, including field data collection, system evaluation, and energy conservation measure (ECM) identification.
  • Author complete technical sections of energy audit and Local Law compliance reports, ready for supervisor review with minimal rework.
  • Perform energy and carbon savings calculations across electrification (Clean Heat, electrification, and EV charging), HVAC, lighting, weatherization (envelope upgrades), refrigeration, motors, air compressors, and other building systems.
  • Develop LL97 decarbonization and electrification pathway analysis — modeling compliance scenarios and quantifying penalty exposure under emissions caps.
  • Perform LL87 retro-commissioning functional testing and author the Energy Efficiency Report (EER), validating RCM checklist items ahead of DOB filing.
  • Support incentive applications and documentation for utility and state programs (Con Edison, NYSERDA Flex Tech, etc.)
Quality & Team Support
