Sr. Project Manager – District Energy Facility
Location: Pearl River, NY — Onsite
Pay Rate: $70/hour
Contract: October 5, 2026 – July 4, 2027
Schedule: Primarily onsite; significant field presence required
Position OverviewSeeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to manage energy infrastructure and capital improvement projects supporting a large 300-acre campus and central utility plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background with experience in power generation, steam, chilled water, electrical distribution, or other energy/utility infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Lead projects from planning and estimating through construction and closeout.
- Manage contractors, vendors, engineers, plant operations, and maintenance teams.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, scopes, estimates, and forecasts.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, invoices, and project documentation.
- Coordinate outages, interconnections, and infrastructure work with campus customers.
- Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety requirements.
- Review and interpret mechanical, electrical, architectural, and engineering drawings.
- Resolve technical and operational issues while maintaining project cost and schedule.
- Manage multiple capital improvement and infrastructure projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience
; 7+ years preferred. - Experience in construction project management, energy facilities, power plants, or utility infrastructure
. - Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
. - Experience with electric generation, steam systems, distribution networks, boilers, chillers, generators, or gas turbines
. - Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and plant/O&M teams.
- Strong budgeting, estimating, cost tracking, and scheduling experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering/construction drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6
. - Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work onsite and walk/climb throughout a large industrial facility.
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.
- Experience with co-generation/CHP or district energy plants
. - Design-Build project experience.
- PE, PMP, or Certified Energy Manager certification.
- Experience with Maximo or similar work-order systems.
The strongest candidates will be Plant Engineers, Electrical/Mechanical Engineers, Energy/Utility Project Managers, or Operations Managers with hands-on experience managing capital projects in a power plant, central utility plant, or district energy environment.
Interview Process: 2 rounds — virtual interview followed by an onsite interview.
