Job Description

Steam Plant Systems Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team as an Electrical Systems Engineer. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edisons Corporate Values and Mission. Must be a self-starter, able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions.

Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. A bachelors degree in engineering is required along with a thorough understanding of plant electrical system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing, or analysis within the utility or marine propulsion industries. Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switch gear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCCs, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required.

Working knowledge of equipment sizing, analysis, lifecycle management, protection schemes, UPS systems, and dielectric fluids, with familiarity with state and federal regulations, industry standards, and process safety practices.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

  • Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies, review equipment operation, and generate and drive corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.
  • Review and maintain System Descriptions, P&IDs, and other design basis documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis of component failures and forced outages.
  • Provide engineering support to Steam Generating Stations.
