SALARY RANGE: $136,505 to $170,631

Agency Mission

MTA Construction & Development (C&D) is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of all capital construction projects across the MTA region. Through centralized oversight and management of the MTA’s $6.84 billion Capital Program, C&D ensures the efficient delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support the region’s vast transportation network. Telework

This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

Job Summary

The planning department oversees investment planning activities for a complex and critical portfolio of assets across MTA agencies. The Director, Asset Planning (Stations Planning & Design) will be responsible for shaping ongoing and future investments in NYCT subway stations. This will include establishing comprehensive station-by-station strategies, capital program projects, and vision s for improvement and collaborating closely across the organization on station project scoping and implementation.

The Director, Asset Planning (Stations Planning & Design) will establish a strong knowledge of station assets and bring design and construction experience to evaluate, propose, and coordinate design solutions at specific sites and in larger comprehensive capital planning strategies.

Responsibilities

Develop a working knowledge of the MTA's extensive portfolio of subway station (or other requested) assets. Cultivate internal contacts and information sources. Develop a knowledge of physical conditions of individual assets as well as their functional and operational role in delivering transit services.

Develop a working knowledge of MTA’s station investment processes, such as varying construction project types, design materials and solutions, and funding sources, as well as internal design, construction, collaboration, and coordination processes.

Develop station-by-station visions for capital investment and design strategies based on opportunity, condition, performance, criticality, safety, impact on service reliability, customer experience, access, resiliency, land use opportunities, investment needs, and other relevant considerations.

Coordinate with multiple constituencies and diverse stakeholders to establish coordinated and collaborative station planning goals, outcomes, and project development.

Create, present, and document station planning visions, information, processes, proposals, and results, including graphics, drawings, diagrams, data visualizations, reports, and presentations, effectively communicating station investment proposals and strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders within and outside the MTA.

Review and facilitate coordination of station project scope for alignment with station planning goals. Assist in identifying and facilitating alignment of connected station project scopes or timing.
