IBM Quantum is seeking candidates for an Associate Quantum Hardware Mechanical Engineer position at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. In this role, you will support the development of IBM Quantum systems through the fabrication, assembly, and characterization of precision components used in quantum computing hardware. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced hardware technologies that enable next-generation quantum computers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong growth mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, a hands-on approach to engineering, and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about advancing next-generation quantum systems and enjoys collaborating with others to solve challenging technical problems. This is a highly hands-on, laboratory-based position involving precision machining, hardware fabrication, component characterization, and the execution of experiments in close collaboration with experienced engineers and scientists.
You will play a key role in supporting ongoing research and development efforts while receiving mentorship and technical guidance that will help accelerate your professional growth. Prior experience with quantum hardware is not required, and the position is fully on-site.

· Problem-solving skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical challenges.
· Communication and collaboration skills for working effectively within interdisciplinary teams of electrical engineers, fabrication engineers, and experimental physicists.

· Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Physics, or a related discipline.

· Experience conducting hands-on experimental work using laboratory equipment
· Ability to create CAD models for mechanical components
