A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to enhance their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics and demonstrate strong capabilities in patent application preparation and prosecution. With a minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience, the candidate should have technical expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
Duties- Draft and prosecute patent applications, including preparing and amending claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.
- Conduct detailed technical evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
- Perform prior art searches and assess the patentability of inventions.
- Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop and implement effective patent strategies.
- Provide expert advice on intellectual property issues such as patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.
- Prepare and review patent-related documents and correspondence.
- Monitor developments in patent laws and technical advancements to provide up-to-date advice.
- Offer technical support during patent litigation and other intellectual property disputes.
- Manage and prioritize multiple patent prosecution projects to ensure timely and efficient outcomes.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- Technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
- Strong skills in patent application preparation and prosecution.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective organizational and time-management skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- Registration with the USPTO is required.
