Job Description & How to Apply Below
A well-established structural engineering practice in Brooklyn is looking to add a Structural Engineer to the team. The firm has been running for over thirty years under a highly respected founder, and is now scaling up with new hires, new systems and a genuinely open path for growth.
About the roleYou'll be working directly alongside the firm's founder and a small, close-knit team, taking on structural analysis, design and inspection work across commercial, residential and institutional projects. Most of the work is on existing buildings, with some new construction up to six to ten storeys. This is a hands-on role with real client exposure from early on, not a back-office position.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural analysis and design of building systems including foundations, frames, slabs and facades
- Prepare and review structural drawings, calculations and specifications for new construction and repair projects
- Conduct field investigations, condition assessments and inspections of existing structures
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings and contractor submittals
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and zoning regulations
- Assist with preparation of proposals, project schedules and budgets
- Participate in client meetings, presentations and site visits as required
- Work alongside a junior engineer and drafter, with scope to take on a mentoring role as the team grows
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in structural engineering
- PE licence not required but is a plus, particularly for candidates close to sitting or recently licensed
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, additional structural software experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a small, collaborative office environment with direct access to senior leadership
- Salary: $90,000-$130,000 per year, commensurate with experience
- Employer-sponsored medical, dental and vision insurance
- Paid time off and holidays
- Early finish on Fridays
- Direct mentorship from a founder with over thirty years in the industry
- Genuine long-term progression as the firm grows
Brooklyn, NY. This is a fully in-office role, five days a week.
