We are seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer to support expansion and infrastructure improvement projects at the JFK Energy Center located at John
F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, NY. The JFK Energy Center is a cogeneration (combined heat and power) facility that generates electricity and provides heating and cooling utilities to airport terminals through a network of medium-temperature hot water and chilled water distribution systems. The Mechanical Field Engineer will support the installation, construction, and commissioning of equipment associated with hot water production, chilled water generation, and thermal distribution systems serving the airport.
This individual will work closely with construction, operations, and engineering teams to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting power generation facilities, central utility plants, district energy systems, industrial HVAC infrastructure, or other large-scale industrial construction projects
- 7-12 years of mechanical construction or field engineering experience
- Experience supporting industrial, utility, or power generation projects
- Understanding of medium-temperature hot water generation and distribution systems
- Experience with industrial chillers and chilled water production systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and construction documents
- Strong focus on safety and quality
- Experience coordinating construction activities with contractors and project teams
- Power plant experience (highly preferred)
- Cogeneration (CHP) or combined-cycle plant experience
- District energy or central utility plant experience
- Startup and commissioning experience
- Experience with pumps, heat exchangers, thermal distribution systems, and large-bore piping
- Airport, refinery, chemical plant, utility, or other industrial facility experience
- Experience working in operating facilities where construction activities occur alongside active plant operations
