Position OverviewElysée New York is seeking an experienced Hotel Engineering Manager to lead all engineering, maintenance, life safety, and building systems operations. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this individual will ensure the hotel is maintained to luxury standards while supporting pre-opening readiness, preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, regulatory compliance, and exceptional guest satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions ENGINEERING OPERATIONS & FACILITY LEADERSHIP- Oversee daily operation, repair, and maintenance of all hotel building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire life safety, elevators, and guest room equipment.
- Maintain the hotel in exceptional physical condition, ensuring all spaces align with luxury hospitality standards.
- Direct preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset life.
- Respond promptly to operational issues and guest-related maintenance concerns, resolving them discreetly so the guest experience is never disrupted.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop engineering team members.
- Lead daily work assignments, safety meetings, and departmental training initiatives.
- Establish accountability, performance standards, and a service-oriented culture.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA, local building code, fire safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain emergency response plans and life safety systems testing schedules.
- Coordinate inspections, permits, audits, and corrective action plans.
- Prepare and manage engineering budgets, forecasts, contracts, and capital expenditure projects.
- Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for cost savings and sustainability improvements.
- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Strong knowledge of hotel engineering operations, building systems, maintenance practices, and life safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining operational excellence.
- Strong communication and vendor-management capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum five years of progressive engineering experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or commercial property environment.
- Minimum three years of management or supervisory experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience with hotel openings, renovations, repositioning projects, or major capital improvements preferred.
