Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer to support major utility infrastructure and substation projects in the New York area. This role will focus on the design, modeling, and detailing of structural steel systems used to support electrical equipment, including equipment platforms, switch gear supports, relay houses, and other substation structures.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with AutoCAD drafting and 3D structural modeling
, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with engineers, fabricators, and construction teams to ensure designs are constructible and meet industry standards.

• Design and model structural steel systems supporting utility and electrical infrastructure.
• Develop and review AutoCAD drawings and 3D structural models for steel structures and equipment supports.
• Convert engineering concept drawings into fabrication and shop drawings
  .
• Ensure designs comply with AISC, ASCE, ACI, and applicable building code requirements
  , including NYC Building Code where applicable.
• Coordinate with steel fabricators, detailing teams, and construction personnel to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.
• Review and interpret steel fabrication drawings and shop submittals
  .
• Provide technical support during installation and field coordination when required.
• Communicate design intent clearly with project engineers, designers, and fabrication teams.

• 5+ years of experience in civil or structural engineering.
• Experience designing or modeling building or structural steel systems
  .
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools for structural design.
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards and familiarity with ASCE and ACI design standards
  .
• Experience with steel fabrication processes and shop drawings
  .
• Ability to work directly with fabricators and shop teams to support project delivery.
• Strong communication and coordination skills across engineering and construction teams.
