Robotics, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer
Our team has shipped real robotic systems before. At Reflex, we are bringing that discipline to humanoids built for useful work, reliable deployment, and real customer operations. We are looking for people who want to build systems that leave the lab and prove themselves in warehouses, factories, and the real world.
Reflex Robotics builds general-purpose, AI-powered humanoid robots for the toughest jobs in industry.
We're focused on jobs that are genuinely hard on the human body: lifting 40-pound bags of dog food, loading boxes for an entire shift, and moving heavy materials from floor to high overhead shelves. Not just lightweight tasks in controlled environments. Actual, back-breaking work.
Factory and warehouse work demands more. The hardware needs strength, reach, precision, speed, and the battery life to be useful across multiple shifts. It also needs to deliver a clear return today, not in some hypothetical future. Our robot costs $32K at development volumes today.
We build the full robot stack ourselves, from cameras and compute to actuators, electronics, and software. Our custom-built supervision stack helps handle the hard parts of deployment, from real floor variability to keeping work moving without line disruption. That supervision also generates proprietary real-world data that helps improve autonomy over time.
We are a four year old startup backed by Khosla Ventures and a team of other great investors. Our team includes alumni from Anduril, Oculus, Amazon, Waymo, Skydio, Boston Dynamics, ASML, MIT, Jane Street, and Joby Aviation.
Key Company BeliefsWe are obsessed with shipping robots.
A humanoid robot is only valuable if it solves a real customer problem. Cool demos are fun, but reliable work is what matters.
Low cost is what makes widespread deployment possible.
High-quality, proprietary robotics data is the foundation of the next generation of physical AI.
Getting nerd-sniped by an engineering metric is way less important than solving our customers' biggest pain points.
About the RoleEmployer:
Timeback Incorporated (DBA Reflex Robotics)
Position:
Senior Mechanical Engineer (job code 94564)
Use Computer Aided Design (Solidworks) to engineer subsystems of a humanoid robot and auxiliary systems. Make decisions around power electronics, structures, bearings, kinematics, lifecycle, minimizing cost, assemblability, and manufacturability. Work on integrating electric motors with transmissions and motor controllers in various robot joints for high torque density. Work on integrating pneumatic systems into the robot. Run detailed analysis using spreadsheets, hand calculations, and numerical analysis and keep documentation of engineering work in slide decks.
Meet with other Software, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers to review designs. Review and offer feedback on other Mechanical Engineer designs, CAD files, engineering drawings, slide decks, and whiteboard drawings. Design machined metal parts, weldments, sheet metal, extrusions, injection molded parts, 3D printed parts, and castings. Create detailed CAD assemblies and Bills Of Materials. Source relevant off the shelf components. Create dimensioned engineering drawings from custom 3D CAD models using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing practices, and source and down-select suppliers to receive drawings.
Design manufacturing fixtures and gauges. Inspect, measure, and run quality control checks on received parts. Assemble the first designs and write build documentation for technicians. Troubleshoot robot failures in the lab and field. Based upon root cause analysis, design fixes for these failures in hardware, software, or operating procedure. Regularly operate the robot and improve this interface.
Bachelor or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
