The Senior Site Due Diligence Design Engineer plays a critical role in Core Weave’s data center development pipeline by providing the first comprehensive technical evaluation of prospective sites. As the initial engineering representative in the site selection and due diligence process, this individual brings a broad, multidisciplinary perspective to determine how well a site can support Core Weave’s requirements across all major design disciplines.
AboutThe Role
This role serves as the technical bridge between the Site Selection team and the broader Design & Engineering organization. The engineer evaluates infrastructure capacity, utility availability, building suitability, land-use and entitlement considerations, and early design constraints that may affect viability, schedule, or cost. They work directly with data center providers, utilities, landlords, and external partners to clarify technical offerings, identify gaps or risks, and shape early concept direction.
From initial site introduction through lease execution or acquisition, the Site Selection Design Engineer leads the technical due diligence process - tracking progress, coordinating early design discussions, and ensuring Core Weave’s requirements are understood from day one. Once a site is secured, the role delivers a structured, thorough handoff to the assigned Design Manager to support a smooth transition into full project design and execution.
This position demands strong engineering judgment, the ability to interpret information across multiple disciplines, and the confidence to represent Core Weave’s technical priorities in early strategic conversations.
Frequent travel to prospective data center locations is required.
In This Role, You Will- Act as the initial technical evaluator for prospective data center sites across electrical, mechanical, architectural, civil, and IT/LV considerations.
- Support site evaluation and feasibility efforts by identifying technical risks, constraints, opportunities, and required upgrades.
- Serve as the design team leads from initial site concept through lease execution/acquisition, coordinating all design-related activities during these early phases.
- Review provider proposals, capacity offers, utility information, conceptual layouts, and as-built drawings to determine alignment with Core Weave’s design principles.
- Interface directly with landlords, developers, data center providers, and utilities during early due diligence.
- Prepare concise technical assessments and early go/no-go recommendations to guide which sites advance to deeper analysis.
- Prepare and manage dashboards or equivalent tools to track technical progress, risks, land-use considerations, and milestones for all active candidate sites.
- Evaluate land use, zoning, permitting, and entitlement feasibility at a high level, identifying potential regulatory constraints or municipal approval risks that may impact schedule, density, or constructability.
- Collaborate with internal SMEs and the broader design team as required—resolving early-stage questions independently where possible and escalating discipline-specific topics efficiently to the right experts.
- Participate in early design and scoping discussions to establish…
