Senior Project Manager; District Energy Facility

  Full-Time (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM preferred), occasional off-hours availability for system emergencies

Work with a leading energy infrastructure firm managing a vital 300-acre co-generating district energy campus in Pearl River, NY. This central utility facility supplies electricity, chilled water, and steam across miles of distribution networks to a vibrant mix of corporate, pharmaceutical, and commercial tenants. As a Project Manager III, you will oversee plant improvements, major equipment overhauls, and critical infrastructure repairs, driving operational efficiency and system reliability across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

• Manage the planning, execution, and closeout of infrastructure improvement and overhaul projects across a central utility plant and district energy facility.
• Coordinate third-party contractors, design engineers, vendor teams, and plant operations/maintenance personnel during plant modifications and emergency repairs.
• Oversee projects involving dual 10MW gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), conventional boilers, chilled water production facilities, and distribution piping/electrical networks.
• Interface directly with campus customers and tenants to stage, schedule, and communicate service outages and interconnections.
• Direct emergency infrastructure repairs, including ground excavation, system isolation, equipment replacement, and system restoration.
• Ensure project compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards while managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.

• 5 to 10 years of experience in project management, plant engineering, or operations management within co-generation, district energy, or central utility plant environments.
• Strong technical foundational knowledge across mechanical systems, electrical distribution, steam generation, chilled water loops, and plant controls.
• Demonstrated success managing external contractors, design firms, and plant operations stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal, tactical communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Demonstrated strong skills with all Microsoft Office Suite applications. Proficiency in project scheduling and tracking using software such as Primavera and other common construction project management applications, work order systems ie:
  Maximo
• Willingness and ability to work 100% on-site in Pearl River, NY, with flexibility to support rare off-hours emergencies or planned weekend outages.
• Valid driver's license

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation.
• Hands-on background as a Plant Engineer or Operations Manager at a combined heat and power (CHP) or district energy facility.
