Bated Breath Theatre Company is seeking a Production Stage Manager for its critically acclaimed immersive production DIRTY BOOKS, now on its fourth extension in Greenwich Village.

DIRTY BOOKS is an intimate, audience-interactive theatrical experience exploring banned literature and censorship, with select moments of participation. The production runs in a custom-designed immersive environment and requires a stage manager who is thorough, positive, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating a dynamic, nontraditional performance space.

This position will begin with immediate transition and shadowing, as our current PSM completes a planned departure.

Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing all performances and maintaining the integrity of the immersive experience.
• Calling and tracking performance elements as needed.
• Supporting performers and maintaining communication across departments.
• Upholding safety and consistency within an audience-driven structure.
• Co-facilitating rehearsals for new actors.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience with immersive, site‑specific, or nontraditional theatre (strongly preferred).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Calm leadership presence.
• Flexibility and strong problem‑solving instincts in a non‑traditional environment.

Compensation &

Schedule:

• Performances are paid at $100 per show.
• Non-Union.
• NYC-based.
• Current schedule includes multiple performances per week; full calendar shared upon interview.
