BOOP! The Musical Production Stage Manager

BOOP Touring LLC is seeking a Non-Equity Production Stage Manager for their touring production of BOOP! The Musical. Based on characters created by Max Fleischer, Betty Boop longs for an ordinary day off from fame in her black-and-white world. What she finds is an extraordinary adventure of color, music, and love in New York City!

The Production Stage Manager manages and maintains the creative aspects of the show and is an integral part of the road management team for the tour. Theatrical touring experience is required.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the artistic integrity of the production according to the director’s vision.
  • Manage rehearsal process both pre- and post-opening (understudies, replacements, and brush-ups) and maintain appropriate blocking and technical documentation.
  • Manage and run technical rehearsals.
  • Manage daily rehearsal and performance call times and schedules, both pre- and post-opening.
  • Call all show cues, including deck, rail, automation, lighting, and audio.
  • Complete rehearsal and show reports.
  • Take and implement creative and technical notes during rehearsals and performances.
  • Participate in production and management meetings, both pre-production and after opening.
  • Work with Head Carpenter on load in to lay out show.
  • Focus part of the conventional LX package.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demeanor as a member of the road management team.
  • Work with Company Manager, Head Carpenter and Music Director to manage the touring company as a team and foster a cohesive community on the road.
  • Adhere to and uphold show safety protocols and drug free workplace policies.
  • Other duties as assigned, depending on show-specific needs.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years stage management experience as well as some tour experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and venue personnel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain poise and control under pressure.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a demanding workload.
Work Environment

This role is expected to help create a professional work environment and is required to work in a variety of locations and venues. Must be able to travel, and work evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be able to adapt to multiple buildings / theater venues. Must be able to be on their feet throughout the show and traverse several flights of stairs.

Must be able to travel in multiple modes of transportation, including planes, trains, charter and sleeper coaches, and cars.

Salary / Benefits / Travel & Housing
  • Performance Salary starting at $1,500/week and commensurate with experience. Rehearsal/Prep Salary starting at $1,000/week.
  • Production Stage Manager also receives a percentage of Producer’s share of overage, single occupancy housing, weekly expense allowance of $315 per week, health plan, and producer-provided transportation.
