Overview

Seeking Equity actors for the 2027 season “Act1” show “Purpose”. The play, written by Branden Jacobs‑Jenkins, is a Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning exploration of legacy, belonging, and the cost of a larger purpose.

Meet the Jaspers – a Black political dynasty of civil‑rights leaders, pastors, and congressmen who have long anchored Black American life. Beneath the surface, cracks and secrets simmer as the youngest son, Naz, returns home with an unexpected guest, triggering long‑buried resentment that fractures the family's foundation.

• $1,320 weekly minimum (LORTB+)
• $1,114 weekly minimum (LORTC)

• Audition day lunch 1:00PM–2:00PM. Sign‑ups will end early due to the Juneteenth Holiday.
• Also seeking understudies (for all roles) and swings.
• Equity performers of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, and performers living with disabilities are encouraged to audition.

• Prepare one short song & one short monologue, or two contrasting short monologues.
• Audition may not exceed 3minutes total.
• An accompanist will be provided. Bring a headshot and resume (PDF) to upload to an online form and a hard copy stapled together.
• Always bring your Equity card and membership card to the audition.
