COMPANY XIV Company XIV fuses dance, theater, circus, opera, burlesque and decadent design to create one-of-a-kind theatrical experiences inspired by the court culture which flourished under the reign of Louis XIV. Founded by Artistic Director Austin McCormick in 2006, the company produces several 360‑degree immersive productions annually at its 175‑seat Théâtre XIV in Bushwick, Brooklyn. XIV’s commitment to pushing boundaries is unparalleled, employing dozens of eclectic artists annually in immersive and genre-defining baroque burlesque productions.
Recent mainstage events include Nutcracker Rouge, Cinderella, Seven Sins, Queen of Heart, and Petite Rouge.
POSITION Company XIV seeks non‑union, detail‑oriented, sophisticated, smart, and friendly individuals who will serve as Show Caller for this year’s production of Nutcracker Rouge.
This position will also cover the Assistant Stage Manager position. In our busy Nutcracker season, it is essential to have two show callers who can also swing into the ASM position. Both positions would not be performed at the same time.
We’re looking for individuals who possess a willingness to jump in and help with all departments in an emergency and the ability to work well with and communicate well with a variety of personalities in a dynamic, immersive environment. Must be able to problem solve at a moment’s notice and anticipate problems before they happen, whether it be safety concerns for performers or audience, or any elements needing repair.

SCHEDULE Company XIV performs 4-8 performances per week, Tuesdays-Sundays. Performance schedule varies (). The Show Caller is expected to work 4-6 shifts each week, depending on performance schedule. Show Caller is required to be available to work holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve).
RESPONSIBILITIES- Calling the show as both caller and board op: executing light and sound cues, and special effects (confetti, glitter)
- Completing daily dimmer check, sound check, and rigging check, with the ability to troubleshoot issues that arise.
- Running the ASM track 2-3 times per week which involves sweeping/mopping, prop presets/tracking, and running spot light cues.
- Following protocols set by the PSM to ensure a smooth performance.
- Distributing performance reports nightly.
- At least 3 years experience as a show‑calling stage manager for a cue‑heavy show
- At least 5 years experience as an assistant stage manager.
- ETC ion and Qlab knowledge and understanding – you will be pressing “go” for both boards!
- Ability to run a spotlight.
- Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills, including a positive attitude and being a team player.
- Willingness to jump in and help with all departments in an emergency.

- Rigging experience a plus, though not required.
- Electrician experience a plus, though not required.
