Location: New York

Amas Musical Theatre, celebrating 59 years as New York’s award-winning pioneer in new musical development promoting cultural equity and diversity, seeks an outstanding theatre arts professional as a part-time Artistic Associate to support the planning, coordination and implementation of theatre programs of our theatre company. This role works closely with the Artistic Producer to ensure that artistic programming is well-supported, sustainable, and successfully executed.

Reporting to and working closely with the Artistic Director, the Artistic Associate helps ensure the smooth operation of artistic initiatives while fostering meaningful relationships with artists, patrons, volunteers, donors, and community partners. The Artistic Associate serves as an ambassador for the theatre and helps cultivate a collaborative, creative, and inclusive environment. This position offers the opportunity to explore many aspects of artistic administration and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Producer on planning and executing labs, workshops, salons and productions
  • Coordinate logistics for presentations and performances
  • Assist with artistic problem-solving throughout rehearsals and performances
  • Support set up and logistics for presentations
  • Support marketing and audience development efforts as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience in arts administration, nonprofit management, and production planning
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a creative environment
  • Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Passion for theatre and live performances
  • Flexible schedule, with some evening/weekend availability for events and performances
  • This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys collaboration, working across multiple aspects of a small theatre company helping to grow its impact through strong operations and successful events and programming.
