CHIEF OBJECTIVES OF THIS POSITION The Stagehand

is a foundational member of the event production crew, providing essential physical labor and general technical support across all departments during load-in, show, and strike. Stagehands work under the direction of department heads and the Technical Director to move, assemble, and strike equipment efficiently and safely, keeping the production on schedule and the stage floor running smoothly.

LOAD-IN

Unload trucks and transport equipment from dock to venue floor

Move, position, and stage equipment for all departments — audio, video, lighting, and scenic

Run cable under the direction of department leads — audio snake runs, video signal cable, power distro, data lines

Assemble basic structures — pipe and drape, risers, platforms, furniture, and soft goods

Assist department technicians with equipment setup tasks as directed

Keep the stage floor and work areas organized, clear of hazards, and production-ready throughout load-in

SHOW SUPPORT

Stand by on stage or backstage during the show for prop moves, furniture resets, and quick-change scenic elements

Execute stage moves during blackouts or transitions quickly, quietly, and on cue

Assist with talent escorts, greenroom logistics, and backstage traffic management as needed

Support department techs with any show-day equipment adjustments or resets

Maintain a clean, organized backstage environment throughout the event

STRIKE

Break down and strike all equipment across departments as directed

Coil and store cable properly — audio, video, power, and data

Carry and load equipment back to trucks or cases efficiently and safely

Assist with the final venue sweep and confirm the space is cleared before release

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in live event production, theatrical stagecraft, or general labor in an AV or entertainment environment preferred

Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work on feet for extended periods, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout a long shift

Basic familiarity with live event equipment and terminology a strong plus

Ability to take direction quickly and execute tasks with urgency and attention to detail

Reliable, punctual, and professional — shows up on time, ready to work

Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and a no-task-too-small attitude
