Financial Controller

Hyered is representing a well-established, independent international music publishing company seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join its New York-based finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with a strong accounting foundation and an interest in the music/entertainment sector to step into a broad, hands-on role with clear progression potential toward senior management. The position will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, financial operations, and operational compliance.

• Prepare and analyse financial statements across multiple entities, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for banking and certified reporting
• Create and maintain consolidated trial balances in Excel for quarterly financial reporting
• Partner with the CFO on quarterly and year-end financial statements and cash flow reporting
• Prepare monthly flash reports using consolidated budgets, prior-year results, and current month performance
• Update flash reports to produce final consolidated operating statements
• Analyse budget vs actual variances and produce financial forecasts
• Prepare annual budgets by consolidating departmental and subsidiary budgets
• Act as a key point of contact for auditors, providing schedules, documentation, and transaction explanations
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and relevant regulatory requirements
• Manage and report on royalty payments, ensuring accurate calculation and timely distribution
• Prepare local tax filings
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial controls

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 2–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, ideally within music, media, or entertainment
• Previous experience at Senior Accountant level or equivalent
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP

• Advanced Excel skills and experience using Oracle Net Suite
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
