Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Overview

A mission-driven Nonprofit Organization in Midtown Manhattan is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis. This role offers a strong opportunity to transition into a full-time permanent position once the Controller is established onsite and aligned with the organization’s long-term goals.

The Controller will oversee the full accounting function and serve as a key financial partner to senior leadership, supporting the organization’s mission and continued growth.

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
• Act as primary point of contact for auditors, tax preparers, and external partners
• Lead, mentor, and support the accounting team
• Utilize and help optimize the organization’s ERP system (
  Net Suite preferred
  )
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and operational guidance

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience within the nonprofit sector
• BS in Accounting
• Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred
• Net Suite experience preferred, not required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
• Experience with grants, donor-restricted funds, and compliance reporting
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Midtown Manhattan
• Comfortable with a temp-to-perm structure and intent to convert to full-time

Compensation: $65-$75/Hour

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other job-related qualifications.
