The firm's employees serve clients worldwide including corporations, governments and individuals from more than 1,200 offices in 43 countries. As a market leader, the talent and passion of our people is critical to our success.

Morgan Stanley's Global Sustainability Office (GSO) aims to drive the growth of sustainable investing through ongoing development of products and solutions, economic analysis, thought leadership, support for early-stage companies and organizations and capacity building initiatives. Within GSO, the Inclusive Ventures Group helps run Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures (MSISV). MSISV provides early-stage innovators with access to capital and resources to help them develop and scale.

With two in-house accelerator programs - a Lab designed for startup founders and a Collaborative to support emerging nonprofits, our mission is to foster a more equitable and sustainable investment landscape.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Interact and provide strategic support on a day-to-day basis to the MSISV companies and program alumni.
  • Assist the broader team, including Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs), in providing critical operational, analytical and strategic insights to help accelerate the growth of MSISV companies.
  • Facilitate calls and introductions between MSISV companies, external parties and senior employees from around the firm.
  • Assist the broader team in planning, coordinating and executing on the 5-month in-house accelerator program.
  • Participate in the identification, investment memo creation and selection of the companies that will participate in the accelerator program, including assisting in the performance of financial due diligence, market research, competitive analysis, identifying market/investment trends and analyzing products.
  • Actively engage in the venture ecosystem to source and identify investment opportunities. Actively build and maintain relationships within venture capital peers to share market insights and potential investment opportunities.
  • Synthesize analyses into meaningful deliverables/presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Create standard and custom executive reporting packages/presentations on a monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc basis.
  • Provide support to senior management in broadening Morgan Stanley's founder community engagement and venture capital universe coverage. The ideal candidate has a fundamental knowledge of financial analysis including company valuation and investment analysis; experience and/or interest in venture capital investing; start-up operations; and can manage large, multidimensional projects.
Skills Required
  • 2-3+ years proven experience working with financial services or early-stage companies
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a fundamental understanding of corporate finance principles including strong financial modeling
  • Experience creating investment memos or evaluating companies for investment
  • Strong interest in developments around technology, startups, entrepreneurship, and venture capital
  • Execution skills with the ability to manage projects with minimal supervision in small teams. Very high attention to detail is critical in addition to sound judgment and the ability to fully operate with general to limited context
  • Program management and operational skills (prior experience with application processes, running workshops, conferences) or an interest in developing these skills
  • Writing, communication (both internal and external) and presentation delivery skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office
