Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading global investment bank seeking a Asset-Backed Lending Asset Management Analyst (Esoteric Assets focus) to join their FID Secured Lending group (FSL) in New York. The team provides asset-backed financing to asset originators and financial sponsors and manages a diversified portfolio backed by private credit, leveraged loans, residential and commercial mortgages, consumer loans, and esoteric assets.
This role will specifically focus on asset-backed lending portfolios across esoteric and transportation asset classes
—including digital infrastructure, whole business securitizations, and other structured finance transactions. The analyst will play a key role in portfolio oversight, risk management, and performance analysis, supporting senior asset managers and cross-functional partners such as Credit Risk, Syndications, and Operations.
- Analyze and track borrower servicing and collateral performance reports
- Monitor asset and portfolio-level performance metrics
- Provide oversight of ongoing client requests for fundings and amendments
- Prepare internal and external portfolio performance reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Conduct market and asset-level research to identify emerging trends
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and automation projects
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and contribute to risk and credit discussions
- 2–5+ years of experience in Banking, Asset Management, Rating Agencies, or Accounting Firms
- Experience with structured products (ABS, CMBS, RMBS, CLOs, etc.) preferred
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, data management, financial modeling)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- PowerPoint and presentation-creation experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
- Proven attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deliverables
- Exposure to asset-backed lending, structured credit, or esoteric asset classes (e.g., digital infrastructure, transportation, whole business securitizations)
- Familiarity with collateral monitoring, loan servicing, and warehouse facilities
- Confident communicator with ability to interface with senior management and external stakeholders
