As a Tax Manager, you will work closely with engagement professionals and partners and be involved in tax compliance and advisory work for clients across many industries, among them financial services, professional services firms, technology, real estate, manufacturing and distribution, retailers, and nonprofits.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for planning and executing the full scope of multiple client engagements and be involved in all aspects of federal, international and state and local taxation for clients in various industries.
  • Assign work to staff, coordinate engagement workflow, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Detail review prepared engagement work papers and a variety of income and excise tax returns including individual, estate, trust, corporation and partnership returns.
  • Detail review tax estimates and projections.
  • Proactively engage with clients, respond to ad hoc client requests and inquiries, lead process improvement optimization efforts, and take initiative toward handling both client and firm‑wide matters.
  • Ability to work independently, within a team and across teams in a fast‑paced environment to drive results, utilizing project management skills, and employing creative thinking.
  • Communicate on work status, client issues, and best practices in a timely and organized manner.
  • Lend support to client acquisitions, dispositions, and domestic and global tax planning.
  • Resolve client inquiries received from the Internal Revenue Service and/or from multi‑state authorities.
  • Identify and offer opportunities for tax planning and other advisory services.
  • Build strong team relationship skills and work as an effective team member to complete project tasks.
  • Develop tax technical and research and writing skills. This includes continuing to improve one’s understanding of new and existing legislation, tax procedures, case law, revenue rulings, and other developments.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and make best‑practices recommendations.
  • Regularly meet with partners to keep informed about project status and completion.
  • Train and develop staff, provide real‑time feedback, and conduct performance reviews. Make contributions to training and development and help foster the professional growth of the tax team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 6+ years of recent and relevant public accounting tax compliance and advisory experience.
  • Active CPA license in good standing.
  • Prior supervisory experience leading the planning and executing of client tax engagements as it relates to federal, international and state and local taxation in a public accounting or private business setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
  • Detail oriented, resourceful, with the ability to multitask, in a team setting, in a fast paced and results driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Juris Doctorate degree in connection with Accounting, Finance, Taxation or equivalent business discipline.
  • Proficient with business software tools such as CCH Pro System FX Engagement, RIA Checkpoint, PPC Checkpoint Tools, GoFileroom, Gosystem RS, Bloomberg BNA.
