CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a CFO in New York, NY.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as the organization’s senior financial executive, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, developing financial strategy, and ensuring long-term fiscal health. This position requires a leader with strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, deep experience in consumer products or apparel, and the capability to succeed in a dynamic, evolving environment.

The CFO will lead all financial planning and reporting, manage banking relationships, drive operational efficiency, and partner closely with the CEO, leadership team, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with growth objectives.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and leadership team, providing insights into financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead long-range planning, annual budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Oversee all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Present financial results and analysis to the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and audit frameworks.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
Banking Relationships & Treasury Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all banking partners.
  • Manage and negotiate credit facilities, loan agreements, and covenant reporting.
  • Optimize cash flow, cash management, and liquidity planning for operations and seasonal needs.
  • Lead treasury activities including cash forecasting, account management, and hedging strategies as applicable.
  • Build strong, long-term banking relationships that support the company’s strategic direction and financial resilience.
Operational Finance & Business Partnership
  • Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to improve inventory management, gross margin, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide financial modeling, scenario analysis, and decision support for key initiatives, such as new product launches, channel expansion, and potential M&A activity.
  • Oversee cost accounting, pricing strategies, and profitability analysis by product and customer.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and develop the Finance & Accounting team, fostering professional growth and a culture of accuracy, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Strengthen processes, systems, and analytics to support scalability, efficiency, and improved decision-making.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to HR/Payroll or IT functions, as applicable.
Risk Management & Corporate Governance
  • Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and risk management policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international regulations relevant to the business.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and leadership experience, ideally within apparel, consumer goods, or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success managing banking relationships, credit facilities, and treasury functions.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and operational finance.
  • Experience in organizations with both wholesale and e-commerce channels is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical mindset, business acumen, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels in a fast-paced environment.

Base compensation range is $300,000-$450,000 + bonus.
