Senior Accountant

ONIVERSE is looking for a dynamic Senior Accountant to join its headquarters in New York City, NY!

This position’s UNIQUE responsibilities will include but are not limited to the month-end close process, ensuring all work papers are completed in an accurate and timely manner. You’ll also play a major role in daily financial operations to help us scale, gaining unique exposure to all aspects of financial reporting within this highly regulated industry.

Essential duties and requirements
:

• Play a key role in the month end/ year end close process for the company’s operations ensuring the proper recording and reporting of both routine and more complex technical accounting areas, including preparing and reviewing month-end journal entries, accruals, performing general ledger account analysis and reconciliations
• Prepare all intercompany reconciliation and submission
• Oversee customs expenses, fixed assets and accrual schedules
• Record all payroll and benefits related expenses (commissions, bonuses, health insurance etc.)
• Manage sales & use tax filling and reconciliation, 1099 and annual reports
• Own business licenses process (filing and renewal)
• Prepare and review monthly financial statement variance analyses to understand month over month/year over year fluctuations and provide explanations to management
• Respond to external and internal audit requests by providing requested documentation and supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with company policies, other relevant regulations and tax laws
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and implement
• Work on other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in accounting
• 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar capacity
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet stringent deadlines
• Solid computer proficiency, with a focus on excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
• Meticulous attention to details while maintaining awareness of the larger scope
• Willing to contribute beyond the defined role to meet business needs
• Superior problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• SAP experience will be a plus
