Position OverviewThe Alternative Credit Specialist supports investment teams by analyzing, executing, and monitoring non-traditional credit opportunities. The role blends financial analysis, transaction support, and portfolio oversight to facilitate lending and structured credit investments across private markets.
This position involves close collaboration with portfolio managers, credit analysts, deal teams, and risk management to ensure effective execution, monitoring, and reporting of alternative credit positions.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in sourcing, underwriting, and executing alternative credit transactions, including direct lending, mezzanine debt, distressed debt, and specialty financing
- Conduct detailed financial modeling, credit analysis, and stress testing to evaluate risk and return
- Support due diligence processes, including review of borrower financials, legal documentation, and collateral structures
- Monitor portfolio performance, cash flows, covenants, and risk exposures for alternative credit investments
- Build and maintain analytical tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks for tracking credit performance
- Research market, sector, and macroeconomic trends that impact credit markets and create investment opportunities
- Identify inefficiencies, credit dislocations, and opportunities for structured and opportunistic lending
- Prepare daily, weekly, and ad-hoc reports for senior management and investment committees
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
- Strong understanding of alternative credit markets, structured finance, private lending, and credit risk assessment
- Experience or coursework in credit analysis, private debt, leveraged finance, or alternative investments (preferred but not required)
- Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or VBA is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, deal‑oriented environments
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in non-traditional lending, private credit strategies, and structured capital solutions
