Secondary Market Analysts support private capital teams by analyzing secondary market transactions, monitoring portfolio valuations, and assisting with the execution of fund interests in the secondary market.
The role combines financial modeling, portfolio analysis, and market research to provide insights that guide investment decisions and liquidity strategies. Analysts collaborate closely with portfolio managers, transaction teams, and investor relations to evaluate secondary opportunities and optimize fund portfolios.
Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze secondary market opportunities for private capital assets, including private equity, venture capital, real estate, and credit funds
Support transaction execution, valuation assessments, and due diligence of secondary fund interests
Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools to evaluate portfolio positions and liquidity scenarios
Monitor fund performance, NAV movements, and capital calls/distributions
Assist in preparing investment memos, presentations, and materials for internal and external stakeholders
Conduct market, asset-class, and competitor analysis to identify secondary market trends and opportunities
Collaborate with investment, legal, and client-facing teams on secondary transactions and fund management initiatives
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; CFA or advanced degree is a plus
Strong understanding of private capital markets, secondary transactions, and fund structures
Experience or coursework in private equity, venture capital, real estate, or private credit
Advanced analytical skills, including financial modeling, portfolio analysis, and data interpretation
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial analysis tools; familiarity with Python, SQL, or other analytical software is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in fast-paced, transaction-driven environments
Strong interest in private capital markets, fund liquidity, and investment strategy
