The OpportunityThis is a key project-facing accounting role responsible for the financial health of active construction projects. The Project Accountant will work closely with Project Managers, Project Executives, and senior leadership
, ensuring timely requisitions, accurate reporting, contract compliance, and clear cash flow visibility.
The role requires a strong foundation in construction accounting, requisitions, and project-based financial management
, and is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced GC/CM environment.
- Process monthly owner requisitions and progress billings
- Process and review subcontractor requisitions
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with contract requirements, including:
- Required project documentation
- Process and maintain project budget updates
- Select and review invoices for inclusion in the weekly disbursement cycle
- Monitor and track project cash position
- Partner closely with Project Managers and Project Executives on all project accounting and administrative matters
- Coordinate with the Controller and CFO on:
- Monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
- General conditions studies
- Overall project P&L impact
- Strong construction accounting experience with a solid understanding of project-based financial management
- Prior experience within a General Contractor or Construction Management firm
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner across project and finance teams
- Demonstrated ownership mentality and leadership qualities
- Experience with Sage, Procore, Textura
- High‑visibility role supporting active NYC construction projects
