Position Overview
Obra Capital is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our finance team in our New York office. Reporting to the firm’s Director of Corporate Accounting, the Senior Corporate Accountant will be responsible for all AP and AR functions including but not limited to creating invoices, tracking receivables, posting cash payments in the accounting system and tracking daily cash activity in the bank.
The role is also responsible for all vendor management functions including, but not limited to confirming new or updated banking information, answering vendor inquiries, processing their mailed and emailed communication, and yearly 1099 filing.
- Prepare monthly journal entries in support of month end activities.
- Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Accounts receivable processing across 15 entities.
- Maintain allocation schedules with related parties.
- Reconcile and investigate any discrepancies and anomalies in related party transactions with the fund accounting team.
- Independently reconcile a high volume of monthly credit card activity.
- Process employee reimbursements.
- Be the primary contact for all billing inquiries for the corporate accounting department and respond in a timely manner.
- Onboard new bank accounts for entities
- Onboard new employees in expense systems
- Assist with yearly corporate audits conducted by external auditors.
- Be apt to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment.

- Superior analytical abilities, quickly relate and unite information, and surmise logical outcomes.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Dedication to meet critical team deadlines.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate to drive new initiatives introduced to the corporate accounting group.
- Continuously seek to enhance knowledge, self-improvement, and better understanding of the tools used.
- Contribute to develop a team-based culture.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, working at a hedge fund or asset manager, or coming from public accounting covering financial services clients.
- CPA is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a strong GPA
- Strong GAAP principles and financial reporting knowledge.
- Experience in public accounting is highly valued.
- Intacct and Expensify (or similar) experience preferred.
- Extraordinary time management skills
- Experience with intercompany relationships
In accordance with New York State Pay Transparency Law the listed base salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 per year. Base salary does not include additional compensation such as cash bonuses based on individual and fund performance. Salary offers are determined by a variety of factors including candidate experience and geographic location.
