Compensation: Around $90,000 base salary, plus bonus and excellent benefits

My client is seeking a Property Accountant in NYC. It is a privately held firm that provides consulting in areas such as restructuring, performance improvement, turnaround management, transaction advisory and private equity services. It was founded in 1983 and known for its hand‑on operational expertise and working with companies, investors and government entities.
Job Description- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for individual assets and a portfolio of commercial real estate properties.
- Serve as the primary accountant for a portfolio of approximately seven (7) or more commercial real estate assets.
- Perform day‑to‑day accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned properties.
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries and manage the month‑end close process.
- Prepare, review, and analyze balance sheet and general ledger accounts, including account reconciliations, analysis schedules, current accounts, and cash flow.
- Maintain fixed assets in Yardi’s Fixed Asset Module, including capitalization, depreciation, and asset disposals.
- Support audit and tax engagements by preparing supporting schedules and responding to information requests.
- Prepare loan and lender reporting, including debt service tracking and required lender deliverables.
- Prepare tenant billings and statements and manage day‑to‑day accounts receivable activities.
- Assist with and review accounts payable processing using Avid Xchange
- Prepare, review, and finalize annual CAM and operating expense reconciliations, including responding to tenant inquiries, supporting audits, and working directly with Property Managers.
- Manage and reconcile security deposits.
- Responsible for the installation and maintenance of asset information and tenant lease data within Yardi
- Interface directly with Property Management and the Financial Controller to support property‑level and portfolio‑level reporting needs.
- Provide support with budgets, forecasts, and ad‑hoc financial analysis as needed.
- Experience with Yardi
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial real estate accounting.
- Demonstrated experience owning the full accounting cycle for commercial real estate portfolios.
- Strong understanding of commercial lease structures and expense recoveries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
